Introduction to Podcasting
Podcasts are similar to listening to a radio show (Hendron, 2008) however they are stored on the Internet and you need to download them to listen to them. You can subscribe to podcasts and save them on your computer or portable device and once downloaded you can listen on a computer with speakers or on a portable player, such as a generic MP3 player or an iPod. It's important to search for podcasts around the specific topic you are interested in (for example: "sensory Integration" or "aging in place". Simply searching under "occupational therapy" will not give you many results.
How to download a podcast
Firstly you need to have a place to download your podcasts to.
- You can download iTunes free on a Mac or a PC iTunes Audio Podcasts this program can be and use this to house all your podcasts
- An alternative is to set up an RSS feed to a Reader (such as Google Reader) and subscribe to podcasts from there.

An Internet search on 21 April 2010 using the search term "Occupational Therapy" revealed 2,200 videos on YouTube and 45 on Vimeo. On Slideshare, a Website that houses presentations with and without audio, a further 1341 presentations were found.
